Dale Andree (NWD Projects) – Dance for the Everglades in Miami, FL

Introduction

Dale Andree (NWD Projects) presents a site-specific performance in Miami, FL, centered at the ancestral land of West Park at Stephen P. Clark Government Center. The work explores place, memory and the interdependence of people and environment through embodied practice and collective presence.

Collaboration

The project brings together dancers from Karen Peterson and Dancers, Dance Now Miami, Miami Arts Charter, Jubilation Dance Ensemble from Miami Dade College Kendall Campus, and collaborators including Michelle Grant-Murray, Nicole Crooks and GirlTrek Overtown, spoken word poet Arsimmer McCoy, sound designer Juraj Kojs, percussionist Ray Robinson, and Houston Cypress of the Otter Clan of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.

The Why

We are dancing to strengthen our collective awareness of our home in nature and our responsibility to one another; like the trees that border our site, we are reaching out to find sustenance from one another and protect the land that nurtures us. It all comes back to the Everglades.
