Overview
Lauren Kravitz with members of the Dallas community presents a site-specific dance at the Trinity River in Dallas, TX, honoring the river’s central role in the city’s history and advocating for its preservation.
Site & Significance
The performance takes place along the stretch of the Trinity River just south of downtown Dallas, adjacent to the iconic Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the Trinity Skyline Trail. This river corridor served indigenous communities and later supported transportation and commerce; it later suffered from harmful pollutants before improvements following the Clean Water Act of 1972. The work responds to this layered history and the river’s ongoing importance for communal gathering, recreation, and transportation.
Performance & Collaborators
Choreography and dancing by Lauren Kravitz, with performers Jennifer Mabus, Larissa Fong, Over the Bridge Arts, and members of the Dallas dance community. Music by David Anderson. Educational materials provided by the Trinity Authority of Texas. The piece foregrounds movement as a means to remember the river’s past and advocate for its future.

The project invites the public to witness and join conversations around river stewardship and water quality, emphasizing preservation and community care as pathways to sustain this vital urban waterway.
