Currents began to flow Into my awareness
Currents began to flow Into my awareness

Currents began to flow Into my awareness

Christine Little – Hallowell, Maine

Currents began to flow
Into my awareness
When Five years old
Tidal waters crashing along the rocky coast of Maine
My father conducting the waves like music
Washing in and out and over my senses
Sea spray, a sprinkler
The boulders, my playground

Now at sixty five
Those currents run deep & deeper still
from upriver, Kennebec & Sheepscot
Invite my feet into the source Into my veins
Ancestry, alive and flowing even now
Through my landscape, my dance
Connecting to mystery, to home
