Overview
Lori Yuill of Houston Met Dance presents Nature Stories at the site located at 2811 Travis St, Houston, TX in Midtown Park. The project uses dance and individual stories to explore the value of protecting local ecology.
Water Context & Artistic Response
Located near Houston’s Bayous, the surrounding area frequently experiences floods and hurricanes. The park’s water feature is reflective of the Bayou, and the choreography responds to both collective and individual experiences of water as a local ecological force.

Collaborating artists include: Tosin Akande, Amy Bryson, Caroline Duble, Ren Johnson, Ava Lubetkin, Nicole McNeil, Alisa Mittin, Ariel Roy, Madison Scott, Dominique Seraphim, Flora Yeh, and Jiaxi Yu.
Site & Ancestral Land
The work takes place on ancestral land identified as Midtown Park, engaging the site’s water feature and its relationship to nearby Bayous as central elements of the performance.
